Hayward is right

Off you go now, to Gene Hayward's recent post: Inflation is not a boring topic. It is a thief in the night and the root cause of rebellion around the world. Can't get more exciting than that! See here why...

Thanks for the link, Art.

Kids always want to fight me on the reasons for social instability and rebellion. They want to believe the "Brave Heart" fight for freedom mantra version of events. I show them examples of the mundane economic issues that wear people down and cause them to rise up. The rebellion usually morphs into a cry for freedom and liberty and blah, blah, blah, but it was born of price instability.

Ironically, this "deflates" students but in the end they become more aware of the underlying issues that cause the REAL instability.

"...mundane economic issues..."

Your words remind me of these few paragraphs from Hayek's Road to Serfdom.

"Ironically, this "deflates" students but in the end they become more aware of the underlying issues that cause the REAL instability."

Send them to Hayek for politics -- and to Keynes for economics.
